one of the rings Gram gave me last Saturday. She worked for a gem importer for years and years and years as a bookkeeper, and got some pretty amazing stones out of the deal. If I was married, I’d totally have this as my ring. Since I am not married, I wear it on my ring finger and enjoy the sparklies without all the bullshit about being married.

Question by Sanasa: What do you think of sapphire engagement rings?
I love deep, inky-blue sapphires, I think they’re beautiful. But for an engagement ring, my friend said a princess cut sapphire on white gold would look “trashy”. Is it better to just opt for a diamond?

I think it’ll look beautiful. Who cares what your friend thinks. You’re the one who’s going to wear it. 
A sapphire stone can cost just as much as a diamond or even more. They’re very rare.
