Somewhat OT: I wish I had had my camera on me yesterday during the intermission of Gilbert & Sullivan's The Gondoliers, because one of the principals was backstage reading The Ghost Brigades.
In costume. Which consisted of a pretty-pretty pink and gold princess dress complete with Barbie tiara. (The tiara was the actress', and matched the costume so well that the audience had never noticed the Barbie face in the center.)

Oh, well, they just have so many tucks and buckles and general fussiness, and they're usually made out of pink or gold metallic leather. It kind of brings to mind a little nuclear explosion with some radioactive waste. Um, to me anyway. Not that I'd object to a purse *actually* shaped like a nuclear explosion – that'd be pretty awesome. Especially the cool stop motion pictures I have of the clouds. But then I'm pretty 50s when it comes to purses.

straight marriages are just as much of a joke as gay marriage, so why not just let them get married. They can decide who can give the ring or whatever. I dont see a legitimate reason why anyone cant get married regardless of sexual orientation. Just seems like another way to hate on people and start fights
I love my engagement ring and my wedding ring. I love all the pomp and circumstance and TRADITION that went along with it. I loved the wedding ceremony and the white dress ( I was not a virgin!) and the gift registry. I strongly disagree with the concept of an engagement ring symbolizing a man's property. That's ridiculous and sounds a little bit desperate. Some things should be left out of the equal opportunity feminism movement and this is one of them, IMO.
Sapphires have always dominated the engagement world, especially when it comes to royalty! They are sophisticated and regal and symbolize commitment. American women are catching on and following in the footsteps of Penelope Cruz, Diane Sawyer, Princess Di and many others who have chosen other colored gemstones! White weddings have become a nonexistent bore and so have diamond engagement rings!
